A hydrogen sulfide (H2S) scavengers is a specialized chemical or fuel additive widely used in hydrocarbon and chemical processing facilities. These specialized chemicals react selectively with and remove H2S to help meet product and process specifications. These H2S scavenger are generally referred to as gas sweetners.
MEA triazine and MMA triazine are two such products offered by Venus-Goa for scavenging H2S gas.
MEA triazine and MMA triazine are both hexahydro-1,3,5-tris(substituted)-s-triazine derivatives. These liquid based triazines perform well for direct injection into the gas streams (off-shore application) or in contactor towers (on-shore application). One mole of triazine can scavenge two moles of H2S molecules to form the by-product; dithiazine which is biodegradable and non-toxic. Triazines react only with H2S gas and hence are not consumed by CO2 gas present in natural gas reservoirs.
